Video: Discovering a Deserted Island

As you can see, the island was quite beautiful – apart from the spooky things which had obviously occurred there. Wonderful beaches, coconut and banana trees, sunshine, a light breeze. Paradise. Why didn’t I stay? There was no library.

Video: Cycling on Sardinia

Last week I was on Sardinia. There were buses and trains, but not very often and not to all of the places I wanted to visit.

So I chose a different mode of transport for a few days:

bicycle Andreas Moser

The island had more hills than I had thought, but this provided a nice combination of exploration and exercise. Cycling along the coast for the most time, I could visit the most beautiful beaches and bays, many of which one could never have reached by car.

Fired up by the joy of sitting on a bicycle again after almost a year, I had the stupid idea of filming myself while cycling:

(The film was taken on Sinis peninsula on Sardinia’s west coast. – Hier gibt es diesen Beitrag auf Deutsch.)

Opening Times

During my walk along Hadrian’s Wall I came across a place where I hoped to get some food and my early morning Coca Cola. It was around 8 in the morning, but I had already been walking for a few hours and was hungry.

The place was closed and the information in the window didn’t help much:

I waited a bit, but it was a lonely and forlorn place, it was cold and it began to rain. So I had to continue my walk before I could find out who these people were who valued humour more than business.

Ice cold, but romantic

The Curonian Spit is one of the favourite destinations of tourists visiting Lithuania. And rightfully so! But almost all of them come in summer when they can swim in the sea, get tanned on the long sand beaches or enjoy the cooling shade of the pine forests.

Once, I was there in February. It was ice cold. So cold that the lagoon had frozen over and one could walk on the ice. Some people even drove their cars across the frozen parts of the sea.

I could only stay outside for a few hours before returning to my accommodation, where I had to warm up before I could venture out into the cold for another one or two hours.

But it was beautiful.

Bike Theft in Italy

My flatmates in Bari carry their heavy bicycles up to the second floor every day, which I always dismissed as somewhat over-anxious.

But then I witnessed how rampant bike theft is here. Look at these gangs of thieves who are getting away with dozens of bicycles. This is not some random heist, this is organized crime. And the worst thing: the police just stand there, doing nothing.

Is the Cinema still open?

Sometimes, the sign for a place already gives me the feeling that the place might no longer exist.

The Flatshare Diet

If you need to lose some pounds, you don’t need to worry about the carbon diet, the fiber diet, the water diet, the protein diet or all the other semi-scientific dietary cons anymore.

I have discovered the guaranteed way to lose weight and I call it the Flatshare Diet.

It consists of two simple steps:

fridge full(1) Move to an apartment or a house shared with other people. The more the better. When you move there, the fridge will already be completely full and there will be no place left for you to store any food (at least based on my current experience).

Thus, you will stop buying food, and consequently you will stop eating food.

(2) Avoid making up for this shortfall by eating fast food or junk food.
