Hiking through the forest behind the zoo in Targu Mures, Romania, I spotted this spooky bundle strapped to an innocent tree. It was hidden far from the path, as if some secret society did not want to scare the hiking public or wanted their mysterious rituals to remain undetected.
Fighting my way through layers of cobwebs, I got closer – and was shocked by what I saw: evil flowers, feathers of a black bird that had been sacrificed, and all of this tied together with a piece of cloth soaked in blood.
Does anyone know what the hell is going on here?

Weird sh*t, I wouldn’t be going back!
But it’s a beautiful forest, so I have been back many times. Even the half marathon in Targu Mures went past there.
You’re braver than me. I sure would not want to come across someone who kills birds and uses Wicca in a forest if I was on my own :-)
Well, it was in the middle of the day, and I was actually hiking with two friends.
Isn’t that how The Blair Witch Project started?
Whoa!
Now I am getting scared retroactively.
Or maybe someone died on the bike path and the “evil” flowers are in their memory.
I thought so as well. But who dies in the forest, a few meters from the zoo? And why the feathers of a crow?
There are plenty of bike routes in various places next to the zoo, in the forest. And maybe the crow just wanted to eat/take the flowers and left a few souvenirs behind.
Are you trying to come up with a logical explanation, so that you won’t be scared from walking into that forest? :-)
Guilty as charged.
That’s a headline that will always get a read from me. I recently started reading James Frazer’s The Golden Bough, which covers the ancient origins and histories of magic. and that makes me think why is this automatically “Satanic? Could be some sort of ancient folk tradition. I mean one dead crow in the forrest is strange, but think about something like the industrial chicken farming systems of the world and you’ll find an even uglier affair. Anyway, cool picture and story.
Very true point about the millions of chickens killed every day.
I don’t know, the tree doesn’t look that innocent to me.
It’s innocent until proven guilty.
“Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat.”
Not every country has codified this principle into their law, in many you are guilty until proven innocent. What is Romania’s position on the issue?
Hello! Romania is a member of the EU and of the European Convention on Human Rights.
