Video Blog: Târgu Mureș at Christmas

I already described and documented photographically the Christmas lights in Târgu Mureș, where I currently live, which got a bit out of hand and strained the national electricity network.

Bogdan Nasca could easily top that because he has a camera which can fly and play cheesy radio music at the same time. Here is his video:

There is no question that I picked a beautiful city for my stay in Romania.

  1. ughh that white-light tree in the beginning..I hate it..

    • My Mom was extremely excited by it each time we drove past it when she was visiting me before Christmas.
Me personally, I prefer trees to remain in the forest.

    • I meant the one that’s not actually a tree, but a collection of flashy whites, neons and plastic. I agree on the forest thing.

    • Some of the displays reminded me of a place that just got electricity and desperately wants to celebrate that fact by overdoing it.

    • :)) yes, that is exactly how it is in most cities in the country at Christmas time..

    • I saw it in some other cities as well, like in Cluj-Napoca. I wonder if a new nuclear power plant was put into operation just before Christmas.

  2. There’s a line between pretty and gaudy – I think they stepped over it. Think of the money that could have been spent providing a Christmas dinner for people who otherwise wouldn’t have had one.

  3. Wow – that’s a lot of lights. Beautiful video.
