Shouldn’t this be red?

Like red phone booths and red double-decker buses, red postboxes feature in millions of touristy snapshots taken all over the UK.

In anticipation of an independent Scotland, someone already painted this one blue:

blue postbox SarkThey will have to paint it red again now, I guess.

(Actually, I took this photo on Sark, which can’t make up its mind at all on whether it belongs to the UK or not.)

About Andreas Moser

Travelling the world and writing about it. I have degrees in law and philosophy, but I'd much rather be a writer, a spy or a hobo.

  2. The Channel Island of Sark is part of Great Britain, and not the UK. Our postal service is provided by Guernsey Post and our post boxes are generally blue, except the one & only postbox on Sark which is currently painted gold in celebration of Carl Hester, our 2012 London Olympic equestrian hero.
