New Year’s Eve Walk

Just a few photos from today’s walk in the area of Baden-Württemberg, in which I am currently house-sitting.

Today was my weekly “secular Shabbat walk”, the day chosen not because it was the last day of the year, but for the warm and sunny weather. But I am happy I have installed this routine of at least one internet- and work-free day, to be spent in nature. – If you are still thinking about a New Year’s resolution, that might be a good idea.

Enjoy! I lived in Flein for a while, many years ago now. Beautiful part of the world, friendly people back then.

    • Oh, that is really close to where I am staying! (Oberstenfeld)
Today’s photos are from Beilstein, Löwenstein and Breitenauer See.

  3. Stunning photos! Thank you for sharing them. We had another cloudy, rainy, cold (for SoCal) day today and a virtual tour through your pictures is always a nice treat, especially appreciated when I can’t see my own sunset.

I make the same resolution every year, and it’s easy to keep. I resolve to be kind, and laugh as often as possible. Also to learn new things, even simple trivia things.

    Happy New Year!

    • That’s a very good resolution indeed!

The weather in the south of Germany was almost as people would imagine Southern California, I guess. Including the vineyards.
(Which of course means that we are doomed, climatically, because that ain’t normal. We are supposed to be growing potatoes, not grapes.)

    • I did some research and I don’t think the part about the rain can possibly be true:

      ;-)

What is this internet free day you speak of?

    • I try to keep one day of the week completely internet and phone free:

      My secular Shabbat

Preferably, I combine it with a long walk in nature. But sometimes, I just go to the library all day without taking any gadgets.

It’s amazing how much I get done on such days.
