Ice cold, but romantic

The Curonian Spit is one of the favourite destinations of tourists visiting Lithuania. And rightfully so! But almost all of them come in summer when they can swim in the sea, get tanned on the long sand beaches or enjoy the cooling shade of the pine forests.

Once, I was there in February. It was ice cold. So cold that the lagoon had frozen over and one could walk on the ice. Some people even drove their cars across the frozen parts of the sea.

I could only stay outside for a few hours before returning to my accommodation, where I had to warm up before I could venture out into the cold for another one or two hours.

But it was beautiful.

It is a stunning part of the world. I went there with my girlfriend a few years ago and we ended up staying three nights, we were only supposed to be there for the afternoon!
