I don’t know much about Islam, but I do appreciate the sense of irony that many of its fans display: They protest against the vile and thoughtless claims that Muslims are an angry, violent and dangerous lot by, well, by turning into an angry, violent and dangerous mob, by burning buildings and by killing people, often including themselves.
This level of irony requires quite some chutzpah. Respect!

What, you have a problem with concepts like “We come in peace, shoot to kill” and “we must destroy this village to save it”? C’mon, next thing I know, you’ll be telling me “military intelligence” is an oxymoron … light on the “oxy”. ;)

I think one should be careful not to confuse a violent and hateful minority (on both sides) who pick up every chance to fuel more riots, violence and war between nations. On your first picture above, you can see clearly that all the banners, attempted to look spontaneously prepared, are produced by the same “designer”. There are small organisations in the background, who try to misuse the personal feelings and frustrations of large parts of undereducated, unemployed, “no future” youngsters. It is not so much different from the right-wing riots against foreigners or liberal people in Germany or other parts of Europe against foreigners or liberal people. A small, well organized group, who remains in the background fuels the riots and exploits frustrations of a larger, “spontaneously acting” mob.
And in the case of the riots in some moslemic countries, the larger context is the battle for the peoples “brains”. Since the modern western world with all its temptations has more and more influence onto the life-style of the young and better educated generation in these countries, the traditional leaders in these countries (religious and political) understand that they have very little to offer in comparison. The young generation dreams of western cars, western movies, western football stars, western electronics, western style. And this can not be get without a more liberal thinking, free-speech and democracy). The traditional values of the oriental world (spiritual religion, craftswork, family etc) are loosing more and more ground, if one likes it or not.
And those who think that the future generation in these countries should be better kept in unfreedom and uneducated, they are just waiting to get some “armor” like this stupid youtube-movie or primitive cartoons from Denmark or France, which they can use to demonstrate to the muslim world the hateful West, that always tries to dominate them, makes jokes about their religious values and does not take their problems for serious.
It is no coincidence, that these new riots started soon after the Arab spring, when the young generation in these countries openly questioned the established political and religious leadership in their countries. Those who wish to “roll-back” this liberation movement can easily exploit the religious case. But everybody in the West who delivers the amunition to them is either naiv or simply wants to become famous.
Tickle me eleven years too late to the party, but fundamentally the problem exists within all Abrahamic religions, personality cults started by inbred schizophrenics devoted to the respective voices in their heads that variously commanded them to ethnically cleanse neighboring villages, mutilate their genitals or marry prepubescent girls, all the while attempting to convince themselves (and others, too, I guess) that the creator of the entire universe is a singular, bipolar old wart in the sky somewhere, and seems to care only about the affairs of various tribes of Semitic, Bronze Age troglodytes whose civilizations hardly progressed past bloody sacrifices and mud huts.
The further irony that this is then the image, that of savages, that they project onto fully functioning Pagan societies which pre-existed them and their laughable claims, all throughout Africa, Europe and Asia and the flourishing empires and splendourous temples therein, which they then worked three millennia to destroy in order to βcivilizeβ the people who had indoor baths while Jesus and Muhammad had to lift their dresses and relieve themselves in holes in the sand like a cat.
Wild.
If you want to see the civilizational degradation the Abrahamic mind-virus causes in real-time, I would suggest taking a look at Indiaβs northern states, which are also regressing back to the 3rd century B.C. (Thatβs βBefore the Confusion.β)

I am always happy when somebody finds one of my older posts!
After all, this longevity is one reason why I prefer blogs over Twitter or Facebook. (Although sometimes I get reminded of old posts which I would never write today. I have even deleted some – and wondered: What the heck was I thinking ten years ago?)
