Yes, Romania really looks that romantic. In all seasons.
(All images taken from the website of David Croitor, where you can find much more.)
UTTERLY delightful! Thanks so much for sharing these enchanting paintings. You should get a commission from Romania: your writings alone have long sold it to me as an interesting and romantic destination (in addition I was already interested as I did my MA thesis – DECADES before it became so fashionable – on Dracula/vampires! -) , and this is just the icing on the cake.
As I scrolled down I was thinking these looked somewhat in the style of van Gogh. So it was a delight to encounter the sunflowers, which seemed to confirm the thought, at the bottom of the page! Are they oil paintings, or another medium?
Thanks again for the great pleasure of seeing these paintings.
Well, maybe I can get some sponsorship when I will write a book about Romania.
I really cannot recommend the country highly enough! But you need to take time because transport is slow and you will meet so many friendly, interesting and educated people everywhere. But if time is not an issue, you can easily stay for weeks or months because it’s still rather affordable.
I don’t know what technique Mr Croitor uses, but some of the paintings also reminded me of van Gogh. And the sunflowers also reminded me of the sunflower fields in Transnistria.
And with that academic background, you would particularly enjoy Transylvania. Towns like Sighisoara and of course all the castles.
Beautiful!! I had a rant about ‘art’ today (modern art, literally litter). THIS is art. This is awesome.
Dismaying indeed that someone who puts a red dot on a white canvas and calls it “The Nothingness of Pain”, putting on oversized glasses while speaking nonsense about his “work”, will earn much more than a real artist.
Yes. Exactly that. And I’ll rant on about it anyway. I can’t believe self-declared ‘artists’ keep reaping thousands of euros a month from the system just to make the crappiest crap, whereas true artist like Croitor aren’t being recognized at all. Somewhere the system went terribly wrong here.
Here are my takes on modern art:
ingeniously found :-D I might even link to your blogs in my next article on subsidized art (will then be published on my magazine site http://www.hoevrouwendenken.nl [‘howwomenthink’])
Thank you Andreas Moser! Best regards from Romania! David Croitor
Thank you for wonderful paintings!
I lived in Romania (Targu Mures) for one year and your paintings brought back many memories. I am already looking forward to spend more time time in Romania again.
Beautiful work, David Croitor. I tried sending you a message from your website, inquiring about purchaing a print of one of your paintings. If you do not get the message, would you please contact me via email so that we can explore possibilities?
Great work. So good I show it to everyone in my country of the Yukon Canada.
I imagine the Yukon as quite picturesque, too.
So far, I have never even been to Canada, but this will change in December, when I will move to Calgary for a few months.
